The highly awaited lineup for London’s FrightFest 2025 has been officially announced, with comedian Pete Davidson’s horror film, The Home, set to kick off the festival. This marks an exciting return for a festival that has delighted horror enthusiasts for 25 years.
FrightFest, renowned for its focus on genre and fantasy films, will take place over five thrilling days at the Odeon LUXE cinemas in Leicester Square. Attendees can look forward to an impressive selection of international short films and features, celebrating the best in horror cinema.
UK Premieres and Special Restorations
This year, the festival will showcase an astonishing 69 films, starting with The Home, produced by the masterminds behind The Purge. This intriguing horror narrative pits Davidson, a former SNL star, against supernatural forces lurking in an old-age facility.
Among this year’s highlights is the much-anticipated UK premiere of The Toxic Avenger. This reboot of the cult classic Troma film features an impressive cast, including Kevin Bacon, Elijah Wood, and Peter Dinklage as the lead character, escalating excitement around its debut.
Moreover, the event will celebrate the legacy of The Descent, which became an instant classic upon its FrightFest debut two decades ago. This year, writer-director Neil Marshall will unveil a new 4k restoration of the film, accompanied by a Q&A session featuring cast members.

Other noteworthy films include the collaborative project Jimmy and Stiggs by Joe Begos and Eli Roth, Simon Rumley’s upcoming thriller Crushed, a thought-provoking documentary titled A Serbian Documentary about the film A Serbian Film, and Samara Weaving’s latest horror venture, Borderline.
Reflecting on this year’s offerings, festival co-director Alan Jones expressed: “FrightFest in its 26th year remains the UK’s Number One destination for genre fans. The 2025 event promises to be epic in every sense, celebrating inventiveness, transgression, and diversity in film.”
