How to Make Caviar in Stardew Valley

Making Caviar in Stardew Valley is a highly profitable venture and surprisingly easy to obtain! As long as you know the process, that is. If you’re looking to increase your farm’s profits, Caviar is an excellent starting point.

How to Prepare Caviar in Stardew Valley

Producing Caviar is a simple process that involves placing Sturgeon in a Fish Pond and patiently waiting for the Sturgeon Roe to appear in the collection. Once it is ready, gather the Roe and transfer it to a Preserves Jar to make delicious Caviar.

With just a little effort, you can easily complete this simple process once you have everything in place. However, there are a few steps you need to take before you can begin collecting your Caviar. Firstly, you will need to obtain a Fish Pond. These can be purchased from Robin at the Carpenter’s Shop for 5000g, 200x Stone, 5x Seaweed, and 5x Green Algae.

Before going to Robin’s house to buy a Fish Pond, ensure that there is an empty spot on your farm for it. If there are any obstructions in the desired location, such as rocks, logs, or crops, you will not be able to place the Fish Pond. After placing your order, Robin will begin constructing the pond the following day, and it will be finished in two days.

Once you have your Fish Pond set up and prepared, you will need to obtain a Sturgeon to place inside. Sturgeon can be caught at the Mountain Lake during Winter and Spring. They are active all year round, but can only be caught between the hours of 6 AM and 7 PM. Sturgeon may be uncommon, but if you continue searching at the Mountain Lake, you will eventually come across one.

If you are not having success at the Mountain Lake, you can alternatively buy one from Krobus’s shop on Wednesdays for 200g or from the Traveling Cart for a price ranging from 600g to 1000g. If you are fortunate, a Sturgeon may also be gifted to you by a Cat with whom you have reached maximum hearts.

Once your Sturgeon is prepared, all you need to do is place it in your Fish Pond and remember to check the catchment every few days to collect your Roe!

Tips for Maximizing Profit with Sturgeon Roe in Stardew Valley

At 130g, Sturgeon Roe is reasonably priced for a passive item. Maintaining Fish Ponds requires no energy at all. Unlike crops, they do not need to be watered or fed. The only time you may need to provide something for the fish is when they request a specific item. By fulfilling their request, the fish population will increase, allowing for more Sturgeon to produce Roe. However, even with just one fish, you can still obtain Sturgeon Roe.

Sturgeon Roe is already a decent source of income, but it becomes even more profitable when turned into Caviar using a Preserves Jar. Caviar can fetch a price of 500g or even 700g if you have the Artisan profession. This makes Sturgeon the top choice for stocking your Fish Pond. To age Caviar, all you need is a Preserves Jar, which can be crafted using 50x Wood, 40x Stone, and 8x Coal. Simply place your Sturgeon Roe in the jar and allow a few days for it to turn into Caviar. This simple process yields a brilliant profit.
