Is This aespa Karina or Ningning? Viral Photo Sparks Confusion Among K-Netz

A photo that has gone viral has caused confusion among Korean netizens, as many are unsure whether the featured idol is Karina or Ningning from the group aespa.

On June 7, 2024, a post titled “The aespa members’ facial features are gradually resembling each other”was shared on Instiz, a well-known South Korean online forum. The uploader included multiple photos of one of the aespa members.

The photo captured the idol’s distinct features, including her striking feline-like eyes and bangs that draped over her forehead. Her v-shaped face stood out with its slim cheeks and short chin, while her plump lips and high nose bridge were further enhanced by her Bayonetta-inspired glasses.

Upon first glance, you may mistake her for Karina. But upon further observation, you’ll discover that it’s actually Ningning!

Upon seeing the post, Korean netizens were taken aback as they believed the person in the photo was Karina instead of Ningning. Some even remarked that the person gave off a similar vibe to aespa member Winter, causing further perplexity.

It was observed that SM Entertainment deliberately ensures that their groups have members with complementary visuals. As a result of their coordinated styling and concepts, it is not uncommon for the members to bear a resemblance to one another. This aspect of aespa, along with other SM Entertainment groups, is highly praised by fans for their strong visual chemistry.

Conversely, some argue that the resemblances can be attributed to the fansite master’s alterations, resulting in Ningning appearing as a distinct individual.
