In “Another Simple Favor, ”Margaret is now played by Elizabeth Perkins, as Jean Smart could not return due to her commitment to the acclaimed series “Hacks.”Director Paul Feig explained, “Jean wanted to participate but her schedule was packed with both ‘Hacks’ and Broadway commitments. Unfortunately, we couldn’t align our schedules. Thankfully, I have collaborated with Elizabeth Perkins before, and she seamlessly stepped into the role.”Feig expressed pride in addressing the recast with a humorous line in the film.

The sequel introduces new dynamics during a wedding in Capri, where Emily’s new mother-in-law, Portia, invites Margaret and Aunt Linda, played by Alison Janney, both of whom we haven’t previously met.
