Jujutsu Kaisen introduces the true potential of a broken Cursed Technique (& it’s not Yuji)

As each chapter of Jujutsu Kaisen is released, it never fails to amaze. Just when we think the story couldn’t possibly get any more intense, Gege Akutami, the mangaka, surprises us with unexpected twists. The latest installment, chapter 255, was no exception as it took us on a thrilling ride of feelings as Ryomen Sukuna clashed with the newcomers, Miguel and Larue.

Despite there being almost no one left to fight, the unexpected arrival of the pair was a welcome sight. They were able to stall the Demon King for a while, giving Yuji Itadori and Maki Zenin a chance to take over. However, they eventually fell to the Demon King’s power. Nevertheless, they unveiled a technique that could potentially turn the tide of the battle.

Jujutsu Kaisen does not hold back in displaying absurd abilities. For example, Gojo Satoru’s Limitless and Infinity, Yuta Okkotsu’s Copy, and Kinji Hakari’s “Unkillable Mode”are all impressive demonstrations. With all this, it is only natural to anticipate that protagonist Yuji will eventually develop his own unique technique.

Nevertheless, that is still not the situation. Instead, the most recent chapter unveils yet another faulty technique that could potentially change the course of the battle. As Miguel and Larue approach the location, they discover Atsuya Kusakabe being held in a massive hand. Upon closer inspection, it appears to be Larue’s doing.

Additional investigation into the narrative reveals that this is indeed his Cursed Technique (CT) known as “Heart Catch.”This ability manifests as a spectral hand that can seize targets from a distance and manipulate them, either by throwing or crushing them. The hand has the ability to regenerate endlessly if it is destroyed, but Larue will experience 1/10 of the harm inflicted upon it.

Not only that, but spoilers for the upcoming chapter also unveil another capability that places it in a different category. Once the hand has made contact with an individual, it can also grasp onto their soul.

In essence, this means that one’s consciousness is affected. Therefore, when caught by it, one’s hand can also grab hold of their consciousness, resulting in an inability to concentrate on whoever may be in front of them, giving their opponent enough time to land a solid hit.

In chapter 255 of Jujutsu Kaisen, the virtual hand was put to use by Larue as he used it to push back and restrain Sukuna. Although the outcome was not favorable, Larue was able to gain access to the Demon King’s soul/consciousness. According to the spoilers, this ultimately allowed Yuji to land a powerful hit on Sukuna.

Conclusion

Larue’s “Heart Catch”is undeniably a valuable technique to possess. Although it may not be as remarkable as Limitless or Copy, it holds its own in a comparable realm as it has the power to impact the target’s consciousness.

At the moment, our speculations are based solely on the information provided by spoilers. However, in a few days, the actual chapters will be released, which will likely unveil more details. To emphasize, another character has already showcased a broken technique and Yuji is also approaching the time when he will acquire one.
