The start of Kaiju No. 8 chapter 108 featured No. 9 claiming it was time for Kafka to witness its latest techniques. It then charged towards Kafka, delivering a powerful punch. The blast resulted in Kafka losing his left arm, and he remarked that No. 9’s punch resembled Isao Shinomiya’s and its close quarter attacks were incredibly potent.

No. 9 proceeded to employ its own method of launching projectiles at Kafka, causing his right leg to be severed. Despite the challenge, Kafka remarked on the unique nature of the situation, feeling as though he was battling both No. 2 and No. 9 simultaneously. He managed to evade a punch and execute his First Form: New Lotus Strike, but it proved to be largely ineffective.

Moreover, as Kafka quickly pointed out in Kaiju No. 8 chapter 108, using his new moves would only benefit No. 9 as it would reveal his entire range of abilities. In order to have a higher chance of winning, Kafka knew he needed to defeat No. 9 in one decisive blow, while No. 9 requested for more to be shown as it charged towards him.

Kafka acknowledged that he was left with no other option but to utilize his techniques, knowing that he could not endure much longer. He launched his Fourth Form: New Ascension Blast while making this declaration. Despite the visible damage to No. 9’s face, its words and demeanor showed no signs of concern. Kafka acknowledged this and warned that if the situation persisted, No. 9 would anticipate and counter all of his moves.

In chapter 108 of Kaiju No. 8, Konomi Okonogi expressed her concern over the situation and mentioned that Kafka would soon lose everything. Soshiro Hoshina added that the true issue was Kafka being in his transformed state for more than 30 minutes. A brief flashback showed that if Kafka stays in his transformed state for an extended period or if his Kaiju powers take over his body, he will be permanently trapped in that form.

As Kafka charged at No. 9, he couldn’t help but think of all the people who had supported him and led him to this moment. He was determined not to lose and attempted to expose No. 9’s core. However, No. 9 managed to dodge his attack and remarked on Kafka’s lack of new moves. No. 9 then utilized the Sixth Form: God of Thunder technique, landing a powerful punch that sent Kafka flying and revealed his own core. Without hesitation, No. 9 seized this opportunity and declared checkmate.

In chapter 108 of Kaiju No. 8, Kafka’s core began to crack and shatter, leading No. 9 to comment on the unfortunate turn of events. However, Kafka quickly denied this, as a vision of his childhood with Mina appeared and his transformation started to reverse. He proudly declared that he has the strongest friend ever, just as someone shot No. 9’s arm.

The situation left No. 9 feeling disoriented as Kafka stood there with a confident smile, when suddenly another explosion occurred and sent No. 9 soaring through the air. A bystander remarked on Kafka’s reckless behavior, a trait he has displayed since they were children, to which Kafka simply chuckled.

Mina Ashiro was revealed to be the one who remarked that Kafka was truly unique, recalling his promise to her. The final panel of Kaiju No. 8 chapter 108 showed Mina echoing Kafka’s words from their younger days, declaring that she would always be by his side. The chapter concluded with Mina, gun in hand, prepared to join the fight.
