Recent insights from developers suggest that the upcoming Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 might shatter the world record set by Baldur’s Gate 3 regarding script length.

Baldur’s Gate 3, a critically acclaimed role-playing game, is renowned for its extensive narrative, featuring nearly 2,000 voiced characters and over 170 hours of scripted cinematics. The total script consists of an impressive two million words, a feat that earned it recognition from Guinness World Records as the “longest script for a video game.”

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 May Surpass BG3’s Record

However, it appears that Baldur’s Gate 3 may soon lose this title. Content creator ESO Danny recently shared a photograph showcasing the original Kingdom Come Deliverance script, which contained around 800,000 words. He asserted that the sequel is set to triple this with approximately 1.7 million words.

Supporting this claim, director Daniel Vavra indicated that KCD2 is poised to possess the “longest script for any game ever, surpassing BG3.”Amidst some confusion regarding these numbers, Warhorse Studios took to Twitter to clarify that the actual length of the sequel’s script is anticipated to be around 2.2 million words.

If validated, this colossal script length would undoubtedly allow Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 to break the existing Guinness world record held by Baldur’s Gate 3 upon its release.

Moreover, Michael Douse, the publisher director at Larian Studios, expressed enthusiasm for Warhorse Studios potentially surpassing the record. In response to fan inquiries about whether the next Larian title would exceed its own script length, Douse eagerly stated, “I hope THEY do! Cannot wait for KCD2.”

In addition to the impressively lengthy script, fans of Kingdom Come Deliverance will be pleased to know that the game’s map has also seen significant expansion, now estimated to be approximately twice the size of that in the original release. However, players can expect to navigate through two larger areas instead of a single expansive location.
