The Hermit quest marks the culmination of the Tachov Blacksmith’s journey, offering a rich experience within the world of Kingdom Come: Deliverance. While the quest is notably extensive and packed with traditional gameplay elements, fear not! This comprehensive walkthrough is designed to guide you through it seamlessly.
1. Start the Hermit Quest
Following the completion of the Jaunt quest, speak with Blacksmith Radovan to receive the Hermit quest. Your primary objective is straightforward: deliver the Hermit’s sword to Radovan for crafting a wedding gift for Olda of Semine.

2. Gather Information About the Hermit
Your first task is to gain further insights into the Hermit. Visit Innkeeper Betty in Traskowitz and engage in dialogue to gather information.

You may also choose to converse with Guard Commander Gerda and Stanislav for additional insights regarding the Hermit. This stage allows for optional exploration, but it provides valuable context.

During your conversation, Stanislav will mention the black horse associated with the Hermit. Exhaust all dialogue options to trigger the Explore Apollonia quest.
3. Discovering Clues
Once the quest is issued, proceed to the Cross location and begin digging at the grave located beneath it. Here, you will uncover:
- pennies
- Crusader’s cloth
- Crusader’s Cloak
- Chronicle of the Knights of the Cross
- Seneschal Ambrose’s Decree
- A letter concerning the Order’s commandery fire
Analyze these items to learn more about the Knights of the Cross and Seneschal Ambrose, as this knowledge will support you in later stages of the quest.
4. Locating the Hermit
Your next task is to head to Apollonia, where you will seek out a burnt hut. Inside, you’ll find the black horse that Stanislav previously referenced.
Utilizing your map, trace the narrow path between two rocks leading to the Hermit’s hut. Engage in conversation with the Hermit to initiate the interrogation phase, utilizing all clues you have gathered.
Start with the dialogue, ‘I’m interested in your sword, ’ followed by ‘You’re suspicious.(Expose).’ Continue by choosing dialogue options based on your findings until you reach ‘Out with it! (Press), ’ prompting the Hermit to divulge the truth.
Ultimately, the Hermit confesses he is not Ambrose, who has been deceased for quite some time. They were friends, but the Hermit is now evading the Knights of the Cross, who suspect him of murdering Ambrose.
5. The Sinful Soul Task
After your discussion, the Hermit will request a favor in exchange for the sword’s location. Venture to the Cemetery to find widow Margaret and share a cross with her to complete this portion of the quest.
You can opt to assist Margaret in burying Ambrose’s brother or head back directly to the Hermit.
6. Unveiling the Sword’s Location
Upon returning to the Hermit, you’ll encounter the Knights of the Cross, who will request assistance in defeating him. At this point, you face a pivotal choice: defeat the Hermit or assist him in confronting the Knights.
Regardless of your alliance, your first step is to extract the sword’s location from the Hermit. Engage him in conversation and inquire about Ambrose’s sword, leading to its revelation.
7. Retrieving the Hermit’s Sword
Referring to your map, locate Ambrose’s grave situated at the base of two birch trees.

Dig up the grave and retrieve the sword. Once you possess the sword, return to Radovan to present it.
8. Crafting the Hermit’s Sword
At this juncture, Blacksmith Radovan will request your assistance in crafting the Hermit’s Sword. Follow these steps:
- Begin blacksmithing at the anvil.
- Navigate to the Longswords tab and select the Hermit’s Sword recipe.

- Temper the sword.
- Strike it repeatedly with the hammer, transitioning from tip to hilt.

- Finally, quench the sword to finish the crafting process.

Your quest concludes as you present the freshly crafted sword to Radovan. The Hermit quest is now complete, paving the way for the upcoming Semine Wedding!
