Netflix recently released Baki Hanma Vs Kengan Ashura, an intense crossover of combat sports anime, and the mini-series quickly rose to the top of the service’s charts, surpassing even some highly anticipated releases.
The ultimate crossover event, Baki Hanma Vs Kengan Ashura, showcases the protagonists of two popular sports anime. Baki the Grappler, known for his expertise in unrestricted cage fighting, faces off against Kengan Ashura, a contemporary gladiator.
The true winners of the anime movie are us, regardless of who emerges victorious. Since its release on June 6, 2024, the one-hour special has gained a large audience in a short amount of time. In less than two days, Baki Hanma Vs Kengan Ashura quickly climbed to the number two spot on Flixpatrol’s Top Ten list, becoming a top performer worldwide.
Despite the high anticipation for its arrival on Netflix and streaming platforms, the Oscar-winning monster film, Godzilla Minus One, faced a significant setback. However, it has not deterred audiences as there has been a surge in both first-time and repeat viewings.
Currently in fourth place is the thriller Colors of Evil: Red, with Under Paris taking the lead. Under Paris is a Jaws-inspired film about a shark in the River Seine, and has almost double the viewership of Baki Hanma Vs Kengan Ashura and Godzilla Minus One, which are now in third and fifth place, respectively.
It is evident that our two professional fighters should definitely take on Godzilla next. Additionally, we should also introduce a shark, preferably in a European city where sharks are not typically found. This would surely attract a large audience for Netflix.
This crossover project serves as a temporary solution for both franchises. The status of Baki Hanma Season 3 is currently unknown, while Kengan Ashura Season 2 Part 2 is scheduled to release in August 2024. As any skilled MMA fighters would, everyone is staying prepared for whatever may come.
