On June 7, Source Music, the agency for LE SSERAFIM, released an official statement addressing their legal action against individuals making malicious comments.
The complete notice is provided below:
“Hello, this is Source Music.”
We would like to express our sincerest apologies to the devoted fans of Le Sserafim who may have been affected by the recent incidents. We understand and appreciate your love and support for the group.
We had previously stated our intention to reinforce our legal measures in order to safeguard our artists’ rights, in light of the significant amount of harmful content targeting LE SSERAFIM.
In light of this, we are issuing an early update on our ongoing legal actions and subsequent developments before the scheduled regular announcement in the first half of 2024. We kindly request your understanding as we have faced challenges in promptly sharing the situation, given the significant amount of time needed for gathering evidence and submitting complaints.
Our team has been closely monitoring harmful posts and comments on all platforms, including both domestic and international social media accounts and online communities that involve our artists. Throughout this procedure, we have utilized every available resource to gather evidence, enlisting the assistance of a variety of experts such as domestic and international law firms, as well as reports from fans.
Consequently, we gathered a significant number of posts and comments and filed reports to investigative agencies for offenses such as insult and defamation in violation of the Information and Communications Network Act, and sexual harassment according to the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes. We remain vigilant in our surveillance and acquisition of evidence. Our legal actions encompass all forms of harmful defamation, fabricated information, personal assaults, derogatory language, and vulgar remarks.
The lawsuit covers posts and comments found on various online platforms including Naver, Pann Nate, Theqoo, DC Inside, Instiz, Ilgan Best, as well as social media channels. Additionally, we have filed complaints with investigative agencies regarding defamatory content and the operators of international platforms.
We would like to provide you with an update on the progress of ongoing lawsuits. The investigation of individuals responsible for writing malicious posts or comments on online communities has been extended. This act has been acknowledged as a crime, leading to the criminal conviction and imposition of fines of up to 2 million won for multiple defendants.
It can take anywhere from several months to over a year for a complaint to be submitted, investigated, and legally judged, resulting in the closure of a case. We are committed to continuously working towards eliminating any criminal acts against our artists, regardless of the length of time it may take. In instances where our artists’ rights are violated, we will respond vigorously and without leniency.
We are constantly appreciative of the love and loyalty shown by Le Sserafim fans. We kindly request that you continue to actively report and show interest through the Source Music legal response account.
Source Music will remain committed to safeguarding the rights of our artists.
