In the January 6th episode of the popular YouTube variety show Zzanbro Shin Dong-yup, renowned actors Gong Hyo-jin and Lee Min-ho graced the episode as special guests. The discussion primarily revolved around their new drama, When the Stars Gossip, which airs on tvN on weekends.
During the interview, Gong Hyo-jin humorously shared an anecdote about her husband, who is currently serving in the military. She relayed how Lee Min-ho often teased her, expressing his jealousy. In a candid moment, Lee Min-ho reflected on the significance of marriage, stating, “Marriage is probably the most important decision in one’s life, beyond career or work. I’m seriously contemplating it, but I can’t find the certainty yet.”
Gong Hyo-jin also playfully brought up Kevin Oh’s marriage proposal, offering to help Lee Min-ho with his own prospective plans. “Don’t worry,” she said, “I’ll assist with your proposal. I’ll screen the woman for you, as only women can discern other women well.” Lee Min-ho responded with a nod, affirming, “I trust you.”
When asked by MC Shin Dong-yup about his ideal partner, Lee Min-ho revealed his preference for authenticity, saying, “A natural person—someone who is true to themselves and has a certain charm.” He commended Gong Hyo-jin as a role model, stating, “In that sense, I like someone like Hyo-jin. She’s candid; she grumbles when she needs to and is unabashedly herself. From our first meeting, I admired her respect and consideration for others, which allows her to be genuine without causing discomfort to those around her.”
In a light-hearted moment, Gong Hyo-jin claimed she was actively trying to find a partner for Lee Min-ho. Lee Min-ho humorously revealed the depth of their friendship, noting, “I rarely engage in phone calls that last over five minutes, but with Hyo-jin, our conversations often stretch to two hours. About an hour and fifty minutes of that is her sharing her thoughts, and when my ears start to bleed, she’ll realize, ‘I’ve talked too much, haven’t I?’ That usually signals the end of our call.” Gong Hyo-jin admitted to her tendency to talk a lot, adding a laugh.
Delving into his own dating history, Lee Min-ho confidently stated, “I’m a romantic.” He explained, “When I’m invested in someone, I commit wholeheartedly. However, Gong Hyo-jin teased, “His enthusiasm might not last long, but he gives his all.” Their banter continued with a nod to Lee Min-ho’s “stamina,” provoking laughter and cheeky comments about its implications.
Reflecting on his early experiences with social interactions, Lee Min-ho candidly confessed, “I only started meeting new people in recent years. In my late 20s and early 30s, I preferred solitude. I learned that frequent meetings often led to disappointment. I realized it was essential to engage with individuals who made me feel comfortable. If I left a dinner feeling uneasy, it left a lingering bad taste.”
Looking back on his career, Lee Min-ho recalled the challenges he faced after starring in the hit drama Boys Over Flowers. He recounted, “Following the premiere of the first episode, my blog was bombarded with negative comments due to the bullying behavior of my character. The views on my blog surged from a few thousand to between 500,000 and 600,000, all filled with hate messages. However, by the second episode, that animosity shifted to affection.”
