Netflix update: A massive blow for fans of Stranger Things and Virgin River

While viewers are impatiently awaiting the continuation of their favorite series, Netflix has just announced bad news for some of its productions.

The year has barely started but Netflix has already offered many new features. Between the success of Double Piège, that of Les Frères Sun or even the biopic series Griselda, subscribers to the platform have no shortage of programs.

The rest of 2024 will not be left out, since the streaming giant plans to be generous. Between the next adaptation Avatar: The Last Airbender or The 3-Body Problem, the highly anticipated series from the creators of Game of Thrones, through season 2 of Squid Game, there will be something for everyone.

But where certain productions are entitled to all the attention, others remain in the shadows. And a recent announcement may not please their fans.

This is indeed bad news that has just fallen for fans of Stranger Things and Virgin River, since Netflix has officially confirmed that neither of these series will return in 2024.

According to a new report from Deadline, the two hit productions will not air new episodes in the next twelve months. And they are unfortunately not the only ones, since this will also be the case of Wednesday, the live-action of One Piece, In the Shadow of the Magnolias or even Ginny & Georgia.

This is not without reason: because among these series, some are far from having started the production phase and their filming, as with One Piece. Others have only just rolled the cameras and won’t be finished right away, like for season 5 of Stranger Things. Concerning Virgin River, filming for season 6 should start “in the coming weeks” .

Among the notable absences from the 2024 program, we can also add La Défense Lincoln, The Watcher, XO, Kitty and even The Recruit.

For subscribers to the platform, it will therefore be necessary to rely more on other sequels to successful series, such as Squid Game, The Bridgerton Chronicles, The Night Agent, Cobra Kai, Emily in Paris, or even The Diplomate.
