The latest season of Fortnite, Chapter 6 Season 4, has thrown players into a world overrun by bugs, introducing fierce insect enemies and the military faction O. X.R. Since its launch on August 7, gamers have eagerly embraced the challenge, utilizing an array of new weaponry including the O. X.R. Rifle, Wrecked Revolver, and Leadspitter 3000 Minigun to combat swarming foes like Swarmers, Bombers, and the formidable Queen bugs.
As players seek intense loot-driven combat in new Points of Interest (POIs) like The Hive and O. X.R. HQ, the O. X.R.rank system provides incentives by rewarding eliminations and bug kills with powerful drop pods. In addition to the chaos of battling relentless bugs, Epic Games has kept the community engaged with frequent updates, modifying elements of gameplay by adjusting weapon performance and eliminating features such as medallions and certain bosses.
Summary of the September 2 Hotfix: Bug Nerfs and the Return of the Shockwave Hammer
On September 2, a hotfix was rolled out by Fortnite, delivering substantial modifications to the loot pool without any server downtime. A key change was the vaulting of the Hammer Assault Rifle, narrowing players’ options down to the Fury Assault Rifle and O. X.R. Rifle for their battle royale encounters.
Adding to the excitement, the highly requested Shockwave Hammer has been unvaulted and is now accessible as Floor Loot or within Loot Chests scattered throughout the island. This versatile weapon allows players to either decimate enemies or navigate the terrain with ease. However, to balance gameplay, the previously available Eradicator Shock N’ Slow Shockwave Launcher has also been vaulted, eliminating its traversal tactics from the current season.
Moreover, the hotfix addressed various bugs within the game, implementing the following nerfs:
- Medium Bugs’ HP reduced from 500 to 350
- Small Bugs’ Damage decreased from 3 to 1, with HP reduced from 35 to 20
- Medium Bugs will no longer retreat when injured
- Queens no longer summon reinforcements
- Reduced detection radius and 40% slower attack speed for all bugs
- Bugs will not spawn initially in POIs
In contrast, the spawn rate of Bomber Bugs has been increased from 30% to 50%.Furthermore, the landing damage caused by Drop Pods to players, vehicles, or structures has been completely removed. The defenses at O. X.R.bases have been disabled, and the Bug Blaster’s availability has been made rarer in the game.
