Oshi no Ko reportedly starting final arc very soon

“The final arc of Oshi no Ko, the popular idol manga, is set to begin this month, although the length of the overall narrative is still uncertain.”

Ever since its debut in April 2020, Oshi no Ko has been a successful franchise. The manga has consistently ranked in the top ten on Manga Plus for several months, and the upcoming second season of the anime is highly anticipated for its summer release.

Unfortunately, everything must come to an end, and it has been announced that the final arc of Oshi no Ko will commence in Chapter 154, set to be released on June 27, 2024. This marks the end of a short, one-week break following Chapter 153.

Despite the lack of information, it is possible to estimate the length of the final arc based on the past work of the creative team, Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari. For example, Akasaka’s previous work, Kaguya-sama: Love Is War, concluded within a year once it was confirmed as the final arc.

Similarly, in Oshi no Ko, it was evident that the creators wanted to keep the story going due to its large community. However, fans understand and respect their decision to do so.

“One user on X/Twitter praises a mangaka who concludes their series on their own terms, without unnecessarily prolonging it. Another user adds that they had expected the series to be milked due to its immense popularity, but applauds the author for making the right decision.”

Some individuals are optimistic that there will be a conclusive ending instead of the unexpected continuation. One user inquires, “How conclusive is the final arc? I prefer waiting until a manga is nearly completed before reading it. I did the same with Chainsaw Man because I had heard it was ending a few years ago, only to be startled by the words ‘Part 1’ when I finished.”

The answer to that question can only be revealed with the passing of time. In the meantime, viewers can look forward to the premiere of Osho no Ko Season 2 on July 3, 2024.
