Pokémon Go players have criticized the new graphics update, saying their avatars now look “stupid” .
Part of the fun with Pokémon Go is creating an avatar. A character that others can see and that fully immerses players in the world of Pokémon Go. Recently, the Pokémon Go development team began rolling out a new graphics update. With changes to the avatars’ backgrounds and designs in the process.
While users initially criticized the update for “weakening female avatars”, Pokémon Go players now believe that all avatars, including those with male characteristics, have been affected by the update.
In a new thread on Reddit, a Pokémon Go player criticized the graphical changes, commenting “I can’t believe how stupid the update made my character.”

The original poster included a photo of their avatar, showing the changes the update brought. Something the rest of the community totally agrees with.
Other players flooded the Reddit thread with their own thoughts. One user wrote “I actually burst out laughing. Well done,” in response to the original poster’s outfit choice.
Another user claimed that these new outfit updates have actually made playing Pokémon Go more enjoyable, but perhaps not in the way the developers intended.
“My friends and I love laughing about this aspect to all the haters while we watch. However, this makes the sneakiest ones even more terrifying.”
Given the criticism, it’s possible that Niantic will soon release a brand new update to rectify these downgrades. However, this has not been confirmed at the time of writing.
