In an unusual turn of events, Tempe police officers ensured that an Arizona resident received their Hot-N-Ready pizza, despite arresting the Grubhub driver responsible for its delivery.

A video that has gone viral, shared on July 12 by the Tempe Police Department, showcases bodycam footage depicting two officers pulling over the Grubhub driver during a routine traffic stop.

After detaining the suspect, the officers took it upon themselves to fulfill the pizza order, complete with direct delivery to the customer. The Tempe Police Department humorously captioned the video, stating, “When a delivery driver was arrested during a traffic stop, our officers made sure the pizza still got to the customer. The order was Hot-N-Ready, and the suspect was Caught-N-Steady.”

Police Intervention and Community Commitment

The incident occurred over the Fourth of July weekend, although police have not disclosed the reasons for the driver’s arrest.

Emphasizing their dedication to community service, Tempe PD added in their statement, “We’re committed to serving our community 24/7—whether it’s safety or pizza delivery.”

The viral footage, which has garnered over 130, 000 views on X, captures the surprise of the recipient as she expresses her gratitude to the officers while they present her with the pizza box.“I really appreciate the pizza, ” she enthusiastically states.

Grubhub acknowledged the officers’ efforts in a statement to Fox News, stating, “We give a whole-hearted ‘thank you’ to the officers for going the extra mile to deliver this order to our customer. It’s a testament to the Tempe Police Department’s remarkable commitment to the community.”

However, Grubhub also expressed concern regarding the circumstances surrounding the arrest, confirming that the driver’s account associated with the delivery has been suspended.

This scenario isn’t unprecedented; in 2022, a South Dakota officer made headlines on TikTok after arresting a DoorDash driver and personally ensuring the food reached its destination.
