Record-Breaking Superman Stunt Above London Skyscraper Captivates Crowd

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s none other than Superman, making a striking appearance over London’s skyline in an astonishing publicity stunt for the upcoming film. As the excitement builds for James Gunn’s revitalized DC Universe (DCU), promotional efforts are already ramping up to capture the world’s attention.

The stars of the film—David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor—are actively engaging with fans on TikTok while embarking on an expansive global press tour.

An Iconic Sculpture Soars Above The Shard

Recently, an impressive 11-foot sculpture of Superman was unveiled, suspended high above The Shard, London’s tallest skyscraper. This record-breaking installation has already gained significant attention.

This stunning sculpture, positioned 300 meters above ground, is said to be visible from as far as 40 miles away. According to Gunn, it is “mind-blowing” to see such an authentic representation of Superman displayed on top of The Shard.

Behind the Creation: A Massive Undertaking

Creating this impressive Superman model was not a small feat. Developed through 3D scans of Corenswet, the sculpture was conceived with direct input from the movie’s creative team. Built using a welded steel framework and a molded fiberglass body fashioned from ECO resin, it is held aloft by galvanized steel cables.

The entire project took four months and more than 2, 000 hours of labor from a dedicated team of over 20 individuals to manifest the 120kg model. This morning, on July 1, they succeeded in hoisting the iconic hero into position above the city.

“Superman has been a beacon of hope and heroism for countless generations, ” remarked Daniel Fulbrook, head of Marketing for REM, the asset manager of The Shard.“It feels entirely appropriate for him to oversee London from such a prominent landmark. His presence is truly surreal, and we are proud to help visualize this legendary figure in such a striking manner.”

As this extraordinary promotion unfolds, it will undoubtedly generate buzz not only for the film but also for the exciting new direction of the DC franchise.
