The first episode of Re:Monster features Tomokui Kanata, who is betrayed and killed by someone he trusted. After his death, he is reborn as a baby goblin and given the name Gobrou by the leader of the goblins. Gobrou must adapt to his new life as a goblin and quickly learns that goblins grow at a much faster rate than humans, as he reaches the equivalent of a middle schooler’s age in just one day.

After leaving the cave, Gobrou begins hunting to find food for himself. He is joined by Gobukichi, another goblin who was born at the same time as him, and the two manage to capture some horned rabbits. Later, Gobmi, a female goblin who was also born with Gobrou, praises his hunting skills. This motivates Gobrou to invite her to join him on their next hunt.

Afterwards, while Gobrou is sleeping, the other goblin children attack him. However, he is able to swiftly defeat them using the skills he had learned. On the next hunt, Gobrou brings back extra monster materials and meat and offers them to the other goblin children. He also promises to teach them how to hunt independently.

The episode concludes with Gobrou reaching the level 100 milestone and transforming into a hobgoblin, while Gobkichi also evolves. Gobrou subsequently puts aside his conflicts with the other goblin children and becomes their mentor.
