As the iconic horror franchise prepares to unveil Scream 7, it pays tribute to the legacy of its past, particularly marking a poignant moment in 2026 that celebrates the 30th anniversary of the original film. This installment continues the harrowing journey of Sidney Prescott, expertly portrayed by Neve Campbell, who once again finds herself in the crosshairs of a new masked assailant targeting her family.

This latest film introduces a mix of fresh faces alongside familiar characters, featuring an ensemble cast that includes Joel McHale, McKenna Grace, Mark Consuelos, Ethan Embry, Celeste O’Connor, and the exciting Asa Germann from Gen V. Returning to the franchise, Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown reprise their roles as the Martin-Meeks twins, a highlight from both the 2022 and 2023 installments. Moreover, the series would lack its essence without the tenacious Gale Weathers, with Courtney Cox once again embodying this dynamic reporter. Notably, Matthew Lillard and Scott Foley, who portrayed Ghostface in the first and third films respectively, are also confirmed to return, though their specific roles remain a mystery at this stage.

Scream 7 appears to be crafting a nostalgic and heartfelt homage to the entire series—a trend that continues throughout the franchise. Recently, Neve Campbell revealed a touching tribute woven into the film, highlighting its connection to the original characters.

Meaning Behind Sidney’s Daughter’s Name

In an interview with People, Campbell disclosed that her character’s daughter, Tatum (portrayed by Isabel May), is named after the beloved character Tatum Riley, played by Rose McGowan, who met a tragic end at the notorious 1996 house party in the original Scream.

“Isn’t that beautiful?” Campbell remarked.“Rose did such a magnificent job in this movie, and that character is cherished and missed. It’s only fitting that Sidney would honor her friend by naming her daughter Tatum. I think it’s a lovely sentiment.”

Fans will recall the chilling scene in which Tatum was confronted by Ghostface in the basement. In a desperate attempt to escape through a dog flap in the garage door, she met her demise as the killer activated the automatic door, leading to a gruesome and unforgettable moment in horror film history.
