Shoshimin Anime: New PV Announces July 2024 Release Date

On Friday, June 7, 2024, the team behind the Shoshimin anime series debuted a new promotional video, unveiling the highly anticipated release date of July 2024. The video also revealed the theme song information and provided a sneak peek at one of the themes, accompanied by a newly released key visual for the series.

The trailer for the Soshimin anime series also revealed the release information for its Japanese television broadcast and domestic Japanese streaming. As expected, there is currently no announcement for international streaming for the highly anticipated Summer 2024 series at the time of writing this article.

The Soshimin anime is based on the Shoshimin mystery novel series written by Honobu Yonezawa. The novels, which started in December 2004, currently consist of five volumes, with the latest released in April 2024. The first two novels have also been adapted into manga series, which were serialized in Square Enix’s Monthly GFantasy magazine.

Anime Release Date Announced for Shoshimin

According to the official website for the Shoshimin anime, the show is scheduled to premiere on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 1:30 AM Japanese Standard Time (JST) on TV Asahi and its affiliated networks as part of the NUMAnimation block. The series will also be broadcasted on BS Asahi starting a week later at 1 AM JST, and on CS TV Asahi Channel 1 on August 4 at 9 PM JST.

Eve will be performing the opening theme song “Sweet Memory,”which can also be heard in the anime’s most recent promotional video, as shown above. The ending theme song “Itokenai”will be sung by ammo. The anime series is being directed by Mamoru Kanbe at Lapin Track studios. Toshiya Ono is in charge of the series’ scripts, while Atsushi Saito is responsible for character design and Takahiro Obata is composing the music for the series.

The recently unveiled key visual for the trailer showcases Jogoro Kobato and Yuki Osanai, the main characters, and includes the title Shoshimin Series: Shunki Gentei Ichigo Tart Jiken (The Case of the Springtime Limited-Edition Strawberry Tart). This title corresponds to one of the two original novels that will be adapted in the anime’s first season.

The main characters of the Shoshimin anime are Kobato and Osanai, portrayed by Shuichiro Umeda and Hina Yomiya. They are accompanied by Kengo Dojima, played by Makoto Furukawa, who is Jogoro Kobato’s friendly and athletic childhood friend. As the anime’s release date draws near and the series progresses through its first season, more cast members are expected to be announced.

The main focus of the series is Kobato, who desires a peaceful and ordinary life following an undisclosed “painful experience.”He forms a “mutually beneficial relationship”with Osanai, as they both share the same wish. Despite planning to spend their days as regular high school classmates, they continuously become entangled in mysteries and disasters.
