Sisters Saved After Abduction by Man They Encountered on Roblox

Authorities successfully rescued two adolescent sisters, aged 12 and 15, after they were reportedly abducted by a 19-year-old man, whom they initially met on the online gaming platform Roblox. This alarming incident unfolded between January 31 and February 1, ultimately leading to a multi-state operation.

The siblings had been reported missing after their parents confiscated their mobile devices following a prior incident involving a trip to a local park. The young sisters left their home in Omaha, Nebraska, to meet Hser Mu Lah Say, the individual suspected of abducting them, who then transported them approximately 1, 500 miles to Indiantown, Florida.

Law enforcement determined that communication between the girls and Say began over the summer of 2025. Initially, they connected through Roblox but later transitioned their discussions to Snapchat. This shift was concerning enough for the girls’ family to alert the police, providing them with access to the siblings’ phones. Upon investigation, officers discovered extensive communication including arrangements to leave the state.

Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek noted during a press conference, “The family shared observations of unusual behavior, including gifts—primarily food—being delivered to their home.” He emphasized that these interactions characterized the grooming process employed by the suspect. This highlights a significant risk associated with online interactions that parents should closely monitor.

Calls to Action: Enhanced Vigilance for Online Safety

On February 1, officers with the Georgia State Highway Patrol managed to intercept the vehicle linked to the case, successfully apprehending Hser Mu Lah Say. He now faces serious charges, including two counts of kidnapping and interference with child custody.

Following this incident, Sheriff Budensiek urged parents to remain vigilant regarding their children’s online activities. Addressing the risks of unsupervised communication in a digital era, he stated, “There is no application online that’s inherently safe. If your child can communicate with someone privately from their own room, it poses a potential danger.”

He emphasized that Roblox implements rigorous safety protocols, exceeding those of many other platforms, to ensure user protection.

Kaufman stated, “While no online security system is flawless, our dedication to user safety continues unabated as we enhance protections to safeguard our community.” This incident is a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges associated with online safety, particularly with platforms where young users frequent.

This is not an isolated case; it follows an alarming trend where young individuals have been targeted by predators online. A similar case involved a 10-year-old girl from California who was rescued in April 2025 after being lured by a 27-year-old man via Roblox and subsequently through Discord.
