This collaboration, entitled Joint Development of Game QA Automation Technology Using Generative AI, is focused on revolutionizing game testing and refinement through artificial intelligence.

According to their progress report, this initiative aims to enhance efficiency in QA operations, thereby giving Square Enix a competitive edge in the gaming industry. While the introduction of AI in QA processes may not directly affect players, it signifies a major evolution within Square Enix. The company’s intention to repurpose the human workforce currently focused on QA for other development areas remains to be seen.
