Gamers who own a Steam Deck OLED will soon have a solution to drift with the launch of an upcoming Hall Effect stick mod on IndieGoGo.
Despite being six months since its launch, the Steam Deck OLED continues to be praised by handheld gaming enthusiasts for its numerous upgrades over its predecessor. These upgrades, such as the improved battery and new OLED display, are clearly visible and enhance the gaming experience. However, one issue that still plagues the device is the dreaded stick drift.
Despite Valve’s missed opportunity to improve the handheld’s stick drift, other companies have stepped up to the challenge. Handheld DIY, a modding company, is now launching an IndieGoGo campaign for the Valve handheld. They are offering the world’s first hall effect joystick mod for the Steam Deck OLED. While hall effect Steam Deck mods have already been available through Gulikit, the OLED model had not yet received the same treatment.
While it may seem like a novel concept, the idea of modifying handheld gaming devices, such as the Steam Deck, is not a new one. In fact, HandheldDIY has a website solely dedicated to mods for the Asus ROG Ally. However, the newest addition to their collection is the Steam Deck OLED mod.
The Hall Effect joystick featured on the IndieGoGo campaign splash page boasts the ability to eliminate drift and dead zone. With a convenient Calibration Button, users can easily calibrate the joystick for optimal performance in a matter of seconds. Additionally, the joystick is fully compatible with the Steam Deck OLED and offers capacitive touch support. For added convenience, it also comes with a joystick cap for hassle-free installation.
The soon-to-be-released Steam Deck OLED mod will include a calibration button, allowing users to achieve precise calibration and eliminating the need for dead zone adjustments that can result in stick drift. Additionally, the mod will feature a capacitive touch joystick cap for enhanced sensitivity.
The Steam Deck OLED mod, which features the world’s first hall effect joystick, has yet to be released and its cost has not been revealed. As it is a crowd-funded project, there must be sufficient interest and support before consumers can purchase the Steam Deck OLED hall effect sticks.
Currently, interested individuals can register on the ‘IndieGoGo’ page for ‘The World’s 1st Hall Joystick for Steam Deck OLED’ to receive notifications about the campaign’s launch. They can also stay updated on HandheldDIY’s developments and their upcoming Steam Deck OLED modification.
