Sword of the Demon Hunter Anime Delayed to 2025, New Format Announced

The Sword of the Demon Hunter anime’s official website and X (formerly Twitter) account announced on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, that the show’s release has been pushed back to 2025 due to production delays. Originally scheduled to premiere on June 27, 2024, on Tokyo MX and other channels, the anime was set to debut with a one-hour special episode.

Based on the updated timetable, the debut of the Sword of the Demon Hunter anime is set for 2025, spanning two consecutive cours, or half-yearly arcs. This adaptation of the popular historical fantasy light novel series, written by Moto’o Nakanishi and illustrated by Tamaki, will be broadcasted on television.

The creators of the Sword of the Demon Hunter anime released a statement on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, informing fans that the show’s release date has been pushed back to 2025 due to production challenges.

The original plan was for the anime to air on Tokyo MX, MBS, and BS-Fuji networks in Japan starting in July 2024, with a special one-hour episode premiering on June 27, 2024.

The production committee has announced that the Sword of the Demon Hunter anime will be delayed and is now set to air in 2025. The new release schedule will include two consecutive cours, with further details to be revealed at a later date.

The official staff has expressed their sincere apologies to eagerly anticipating fans of the historical fantasy anime for the delay in its release. They have also reassured viewers that they are committed to delivering the anime in an improved manner.

Cast and Staff for the Sword of the Demon Hunter Anime

Despite the delay in the release of the Sword of the Demon Hunter anime, the cast and staff have not been altered according to the anime’s team. Previously, it was announced that Taku Yashiro would portray the main character, Jinta, and Reina Ueda would play Suzune.

Saori Hayami portrays Shirayuki in the anime, with Yui Kondo as the Clairvoyant Demon and Hiroshi Shirokuma as the Assimilation Demon.

The anime series is directed by Kazuya Aiura, known for his notable contributions to titles such as Assassins Pride. It is produced by the Yokohama Animation Lab, with Deko Akao overseeing the scripts and Taro Ikegami as the character designer. The music for the series is composed by Ryuichi Takada, Kuniyuki Takahashi, and Keiichi Hirokawa.

The storyline for the Sword of the Demon Hunter anime is adapted from Moto’o Nakanishi’s light novels and takes place during the Edo period. It follows the journey of a young man named Jinta who, along with his little sister, escapes their home and finds shelter in a mountain village.

After many years, Jinta dedicates himself to training and becomes a highly proficient swordsman, with the ability to safeguard the priestess of the shrine in the village, Shirayuki. While on a mission in the forest one day, he encounters a malicious demon who reveals a startling revelation.

The anime centers on Jinta’s incredible adventure in a fantasy world, where he battles against demons across different eras and defends his loved ones. Along the way, Jinta also confronts his own inner demons.
