In the history of K-pop, the names S.E.S and FIN.KL are renowned as the genre’s pioneers. However, there was a time when another group, Baby V.O.X, was equally famous and influential.
Led by members Lee Heejin, Kan Miyoun, Kim E-Z, Yoon Eun Hye, and Shim Eun Jin, this group of talented women took the late 90s and early 2000s by storm, achieving unprecedented success.

Their success was rapid and remarkable, fueled by popular songs such as “Get Up”and “Killer”that are still beloved by fans to this day.
Despite achieving fame in the tumultuous world of K-Pop, there are often controversies and setbacks that come along with it.
The start of Baby V.O.X’s decline can be attributed to a bold decision made by their CEO, Yoon Deung Ryong, to incorporate hip-hop elements into the group’s music.
He made a bold and controversial decision to obtain the rights to utilize a snippet of the late Tupac Shakur’s vocals in their track “Xcstasy,”as well as featuring his image in the accompanying music video.
Even though it was cleared legally, this partnership still caused uproar within Korea’s hip-hop scene.
Yoon Deung Ryong vigorously defended the decision, however, the consequences were already irreversible.
The group was given the nickname “Miari V.O.X,”alluding to a well-known red-light district, which became attached to them and permanently damaged their reputation.
Despite attempts to revitalize the group with new members under the name Baby Vox Re.V, the original lineup’s spark could not be replicated.
Despite disbanding in 2006, the group’s legacy was tarnished by controversy, yet still highlighted by the individual successes of its members.
