This trailer hides the “most terrifying” horror film of 2024, fans cry genius

A new trailer has just been revealed, confirming the horror film that an enigmatic teaser had announced and receiving a shower of praise in the process.

Especially if we take into account the cryptic teaser that shook the web this January: no title, no story, just two images and a call to the emergency services off… The advert played well, taking advantage of the creepy pasta side of the Internet and counting on Internet users to relay the disturbing video.

And as the questions multiplied – what about the title of the film or its story? – a new trailer has returned to hit even harder. That’s it, Longlegs is officially announced. And horror fans are already crying genius, announcing the film as the most terrifying of the year 2024. But why?

The official trailer for Longlegs has been released, and it is frightening, due to its atmosphere, its soundtrack or what it has to suggest to us.

The feature film, in addition to benefiting from promotion that is as unique as it is inventive, will also be entitled to a solid team. Directed by Oz Perkins (The Twilight Zone), it already has a nice cast including Nicolas Cage, Maika Monroe, Alicia Witt and Blair Underwood.

NEON studio shared the teaser as well as the trailer. The first video was simply titled “Every year there is another.” , which can be translated as “There is another every year.” As for the recent trailer, it is called “Remember to say your prayers.”

We see two FBI men removing boards marked with a crucifix, to reveal a box… and the video stops before revealing the contents. As with the first teaser, a voice from a phone recording makes a cryptic announcement: whereas in the first video, it was a call from a panicked father talking about his daughter as something else and the need not to make noise, this time we have a woman who reminds us to say our prayers, because they protect us from evil.

A face then appears covered in a black sheet, which disappears after a few seconds to give way to strange symbols that we already found in the very first teaser.

A promotional campaign that greatly pleases fans of the genre

Obviously, the trailer quickly attracted the attention of fans of the horror genre on the Internet, while the site Rotten Tomatoes confirmed that it was the film Longlegs. The trailer was released a week after the first cryptic teaser which had already caused a sensation.

We can now make the link between the two trailers, and anticipation for the feature film has only grown since then. Because contrary to the current trend of trailers revealing a majority of the plot – or attempting to mislead the viewer out of spite -, here we have a real enigma, worthy of the creepy pasta of the 2000s, the same stories that had brought to life terrifying characters like the Slender Man.

On Twitter/X, a user commented: “Longlegs promises to be the scariest film of the year. ” To which another replied: “I love horror movie trailers where I have absolutely no idea what’s going on. happens. And I’m serious.”

Beneath the YouTube video, one person opined that “the marketing team behind Longlegs is doing an amazing job with these teasers.” “Less is more, I love it,” said another, while a third added: “I love these short teasers released for this film. This is top notch marketing in my opinion.”

As for the story, it is soberly presented for the moment: “FBI agent Lee Harker (Maika Monroe), a discreet new recruit, is assigned to the case of an elusive serial killer (Nicolas Cage). Although no release date for Longlegs is announced at this point, recent reports point to a 2024 release.
