Airport security stopped a traveler when the alarms were set off by his bag full of Spam.
Joel Libed and his fellow members of A Taste of Ireland, a professional Irish dancing group, were on their way to a performance when TSA stopped them at the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport.
Despite this, Joel’s group made a stop at the Spam Museum in Austin, Minnesota before their flight back home to Massachusetts.
Joel, who takes great pride in his Hawaiian heritage, was overjoyed at the museum as he filled a whole case with cans of Spam.
Despite carefully packing for his flight home, he was caught off guard by the weight of the case of Spam in his luggage. As a result, he ended up placing about twelve cans in his carry-on, which led to the TSA pulling him aside at the airport.
In his popular TikTok video, Joel and his Spam caught the attention of the TSA. While they were surprised by the quantity he was bringing home, they were also amazed by the variety of flavors he had, such as teriyaki, bacon, and even a limited edition Hawaiian flavor.

Despite chuckling, the performer expressed feeling “extremely embarrassed”when his Spam addiction was revealed to others at the airport.
Despite filling his carry-on with canned meat, the man remained unapologetic, even declaring “sorry not sorry”in the caption of his TikTok post.
After seeing the amount of Spam that Joel was carrying home, viewers of his TikTok were surprised. One person wrote, “He just kept bringing them out.”In response, Joel referred to himself as a “Spam magician.”
According to Joel, he would have shed tears if the TSA had confiscated his Spam collection. Nevertheless, he mentioned that the agent was incredibly calm and collected.
Despite the potential for humiliation, Joel is not the sole passenger who has been halted by the TSA due to a puzzling carry-on.
In December 2023, Brett Gaffney, a popular TikToker, received a Christmas present from his grandmother with strict instructions to not open it until the holiday. However, the gift caused a security alert while he was passing through airport security.
Upon inspection by the TSA, he was compelled to reveal the contents of his gift, ultimately spoiling the surprise for Christmas and causing a moment of slight embarrassment for the traveler.
