Warzone devs finally tackle keyboard-mouse aim assist cheat

Call of Duty developers have recently been dealing with keyboard and mouse aim assist cheating, a scourge that has recently affected Warzone and Modern Warfare 3.

The controversy between keyboard-mouse and controller use has existed for many years now, but one advantage remains for controller players: theaim assist .

With the arrival of cross-platform gaming, the supremacy of the controller in CoD has become evident, in large part thanks to its assistance with pronounced aim. However, software simulating keyboard-mouse as controller controls has recently disrupted the franchise, providing keyboard-mouse gamers with aim assist.

But today, CoD developers have finally taken action.

Call of Duty finally tackles keyboard-mouse aim assist cheat

Announced on the Twitter account CoD Updates on January 16, the developers confirmed that RICOCHET, CoD’s anti-cheat system, will detect now software like reWASD which activates aim assist on keyboard-mouse. “Our security detection systems now target players using tools to enable aim assist with a keyboard-mouse. The Call of Duty app will close if detected. Repeated use of these tools may result in additional action on the account.”

Developers have been working to ban third-party software and hardware for some time, with the infamous Cronus Zen detected by RICOCHET since April 2023 And just like the Cronus ban, players caught repeatedly abusing this flaw could be banned.

Despite the dominance of the controller with aim assist, the keyboard-mouse allows for more precise aiming control, which is why this feature was never implemented for this one, as it aims to balance the game between both.

Software capable of simulating keyboard-mouse inputs as controller commands may only be available on PC, but it may also affect other games outside of CoD.

The YouTuber jackfrags, who highlighted the software, pointed out that games with strong aim assist, like Apex Legends or The Finals, are also affected by software such as reWASD.
