Why Are EA FC 24 Players Uninstalling The Game? – The #boycottEA Movement

Over the past day, numerous players of EA FC 24 have deleted their cherished football video game and turned to social media site X to spark the hashtag “boycottEA.”This follows a major event that occurred on the night of May 10, coinciding with the release of Ligue 1 TOTS. It seems that a considerable portion of the community has reached their limit.

Is #boycottEA Connected With EA FC 24?

EA has a number of IPs and video games in its portfolio. However, the recent backlash from the gaming community is primarily due to EA FC 24. A few nights ago, there was a major incident involving the Champions Finals rewards. For a short time, players were able to obtain incredible cards from the Red Picks, including top players like Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele.

Despite the hopes of many to obtain these amazing cards through their rewards, EA Sports announced that there had been an issue with the rewards system. Thankfully, the developers have since rectified the problem and clarified that the high rewards earned by the community were actually a mistake. As a result, they have adjusted the odds of receiving such rewards.

Despite the incident, only a select few players were able to benefit from it. Additionally, EA Sports essentially acknowledged that the community can expect to receive weaker cards from the Champions Finals. For those unfamiliar, the Champions Finals is the most fiercely contested mode and requires winning a minimum of 9 out of 20 matches in order to receive a Red Pick.

Why are EA FC 24 Players Using “#boycottEA”?

EA Sports has a history of making significant mistakes, and this is not their first occurrence. In January 2024, there was a glitched SBC that allowed some players to obtain Lionel Messi’s TOTY item. Although EA Sports promptly removed the SBC, it sparked outrage among many players. However, the current controversy surrounding the Ligue 1 TOTS red picks is an even more significant problem.

EA Sports has been transparent about their intention to make it difficult for players to obtain top cards through rewards. The only recourse for players is to purchase expensive store packs. As a result of this issue, numerous content creators and players have joined the online movement of uninstalling the game and sharing their frustration on Twitter using the “boycottEA”hashtag.

The response from EA Sports regarding this issue is still uncertain, as numerous prominent content creators have also expressed their concerns. Despite a number of underlying issues with gameplay and Ultimate Team as a whole, the recent incident has sparked anger among many players. Some have even gone to the extreme of deleting their entire Ultimate Team squads, despite the abundance of fantastic Ligue 1 TOTS content currently available.
