While some rumors claim that the new Call of Duty for this year 2024 should see the light of day on Game Pass, Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, has confirmed the studio’s plans.
After three years of trials and tribulations, Microsoft finally completed its purchase of Activision Blizzard in late 2023, a historic transaction costing them a total of $68.7 billion.
And while ZeniMax’s previous acquisition saw most of the giant’s IP come to Game Pass immediately, things have been a little different with Activision Blizzard. The first titles are just starting to be deployed on the subscription service, with Diablo 4 arriving on March 28.
Naturally, there has been a lot of speculation surrounding the status of Activision’s crown jewel, Call of Duty.
Will this franchise find its way to Game Pass? Will the new games be available on day one? Will this start with CoD 2024?
Here’s everything you need to know.
Activision Blizzard’s biggest titles aren’t yet available on Game Pass.
Will CoD 2024 be on Game Pass?
Although not yet confirmed, it seems inevitable that CoD 2024 will appear on Game Pass.
Phil Spencer recently clarified the Xbox team’s ambitions in this regard, assuring CoD fans that “the intention is very clearly to bring all Activision titles to Game Pass in due course.”
“Our intention is that the full portfolio of games from ZeniMax, Activision Blizzard and Xbox Game Studios, will be on Game Pass,” Spencer said in an interview with Stephen Totilo.
However, as we’re still a few months away from its reveal, this year’s new Call of Duty hasn’t been specifically mentioned.
However, if Microsoft achieves its goals and finalizes its plans in time, CoD 2024 could then be available on Game Pass upon its official launch.
