In Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 256, Yuji Itadori continued to amaze as he not only faced off against Sukuna once again, but he also successfully executed a powerful Black Flash against the King of Curses, stealing the spotlight.
Despite being the protagonist of the series, Yuji is often overshadowed by other characters in the eyes of fans. Many have criticized his lack of character development and power-ups, claiming that he is unable to match the strength of the series’ antagonists.

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 256: Yuji’s Evolution and the Unleashing of His True Power
The recent chapters of the manga have shown Yuji Itadori’s remarkable growth, which was evident during his battle against Sukuna. This transformation has drastically changed the way everyone views him and has erased any uncertainties about his abilities.
Additionally, it was confirmed by Gege Akutami in chapter 256 of Jujutsu Kaisen that Yuji has exceeded Gojo’s previous record of utilizing the Black Flash in his battles. It should be noted that the Black Flash is not a technique that can be controlled by just anyone; rather, it is mostly dependent on the sorcerer’s luck, as previously stated.
Nonetheless, Yuji possesses the unique skill of convincing his adversaries otherwise. In fact, he matched Nanami’s achievement of executing four consecutive Black Flashes in his battle against Hanami.
It was clear to Gojo that Yuji had the potential to surpass him one day, and this has already proven true as Yuji achieved this feat in less than a year of practicing Jujutsu sorcery.
Additionally, it is important to note that Sukuna is currently in a significantly weakened state and is unable to use his full strength in battles against sorcerers. However, despite this limitation, he has been able to defeat numerous opponents who dared to challenge him, such as Yuta, Kashimo, and Higuruma, following Gojo’s demise.
Despite enduring injuries that would be fatal for any other sorcerer, Yuji is the only one who consistently returns to the battle. Along with his exceptional strength and endurance, Yuji has also acquired the powers of Reverse Cursed Technique and Blood Manipulation, which have greatly aided him in his ongoing fight against Sukuna.
Following his powerful Black Flash attack on Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 256, it appears that Yuji may be on the verge of a new awakening that could potentially bring an end to Sukuna’s destruction. While this is only speculation, it is not entirely impossible for Yuji to undergo a final awakening.
Despite facing tough battles, the remaining Jujutsu sorcerers are all in a weakened state. Maki has been hit with a second Black Flash and a close-range Dismantle attack from Sukuna, while Larue is still recovering from the effects of Sukuna’s first Black Flash. Additionally, Choso is also struggling after being struck by Sukuna’s Black Flash in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 256.
This leaves Yuji and Miguel as the only ones who can confront Sukuna and bring the battle to a swift conclusion. It is imperative that Yuji undergoes a new awakening if he wishes to finally put an end to the longstanding feud between himself and the King of Curses.
Despite having suffered severe injuries from his confrontation with Satoru Gojo, Sukuna’s power remains far surpassing that of the other characters. Throughout the series, the King of Curses has effortlessly defeated numerous opponents, including Higuruma and Kusakabe.
Despite the rest of the characters being defeated, fans remain hopeful that Yuji will finally receive the recognition he deserves by defeating Sukuna and seeking revenge for all the terrible deeds committed by his adversary. Thus, it can be concluded that Yuji must undergo a new awakening in order to stand against his bitter rival in a final showdown.
