The highly anticipated DLC for Final Fantasy 16, The Rising Tide, has finally been released. Fans are thrilled with the latest addition, which introduces a new region, Mysidia, for players to discover and embark on exciting new quests.
Despite the latest DLC, many players are still puzzled as to why they are unable to access and ride their loyal Chocobo companion, Ambrosia, in the game. This is due to the fact that the Chocobo riding feature is initially locked in The Rising Tide.
1. How to Ride a Chocobo in Mysidia in Final Fantasy 16: The Rising Tide?
The ability to ride Chocobos can be obtained by finishing the “Bird of Passage”quest in Mysidia, which is part of The Rising Tide DLC in Final Fantasy 16. This task is assigned by Manda, the caretaker of the Chocobo stables in the village of Haven.
This side quest will require you to visit several locations in Mysidia and interact with various NPCs in order to obtain the Chocobo, which is the most efficient means of transportation in the game.
2. How to Complete the Bird of Passage Quest in Final Fantasy 16: The Rising Tide
To successfully finish the Bird of Passage quest in The Final Fantasy 16: The Rising Tide:
- Initiate the quest by encountering Manda at the Chocobo stables in Haven village.
- Head to the stores to speak to Manda’s Father.
- Obtain the Mimett Gourd from Rowan, the traveling trader located near Martha’s Rest.
- In Northreach, give Manda’s Father the Mimett Gourd and patiently await the arrival of Ambrosia, the Chocobo.
The Birds of Passage quest requires a prerequisite to start:
- I finished the initial two side quests in the village of Haven.
- Experience your first encounter with the Dominant of Leviathan.
3. Speaking to Manda’s Father in Birds of Passage Quest
Manda’s father is only 80 yards away from her in a store, marked by a large yellow pointer. The store is situated behind the players, where they are speaking to Manda.
Proceed directly to the designated spot and engage with him. You will engage in a lengthy conversation during which he will guarantee his ability to transport Ambrosia to you. However, he will require a pair of Mimett Gourd to ensure her composure during the voyage across the seas.
4. Finding Mimett Gourd in Mysidia
It is not difficult to locate Mimett Gourds. Simply use Fast Travel to reach Martha’s Rest and look for Rowan, the wandering merchant. He can be found near the obelisk. Speak with him and he will gladly provide you with some Mimett Gourds to help you with your task.
Completing the Quest: Returning the Mimett Gourd to Manda’s Father
Quickly journey to Northreach and head 250Y west of the town. Keep an eye out for the prominent yellow quest marker. Once you reach the end of the path, you will come across Manda’s father by the shoreline. Engage in conversation with him to progress the story.
Pass the Mimett Gourd to Manda’s father, who will then deliver Ambrosia to Haven in Mysidia.
Once the brief cutscene ends, the quest will be marked as finished.
Upon completion of this mission, you will be rewarded with 25x Wyrrite and 5,600 XP.
