iOS 18 Update to Include 7 New Emojis for iPhone and iPad Users

Iterative updates continuously add new emojis to your Apple devices, and the most recent additions may feature a face with bags under its eyes, a fingerprint, a leafless tree, a root vegetable, a harp, a shovel, and splatter.

The Unicode Consortium has initiated the beta review period for Unicode 16, which will introduce new emojis expected to be included in iOS 18 in either late 2024 or early 2025. The review period can be accessed through the following link: https://www.unicode.org/emoji/charts-16.0/emoji-released.html.

This beta testing phase will continue until July 2nd, after which Unicode 16 will be formally announced, featuring the final selection of accepted new characters. Once the review process is finalized, it will be the responsibility of companies such as Apple, Google, and Microsoft to incorporate these new characters into their systems.

The iOS 17.4 update in March brought a collection of new emojis from Apple. Among the additions were some playful characters such as a lime, a brown mushroom, a phoenix, a broken chain, and hand gestures for “yes”and “no.”

It is uncertain when the new emojis will be released. If Apple continues their pattern, they should be accessible with the release of iOS 18.4, expected in early 2025.

It is anticipated that Apple will announce the release of the iOS 18 update at the upcoming WWDC conference on June 10th. However, it is important to note that the update will not be immediately available on devices. It is expected to become available in September 2024, and according to speculations, it could potentially revolutionize the user experience.

Mark Gurman, a renowned analyst of Apple, forecasts that the upcoming iOS update will be the largest yet for the company, placing a strong emphasis on incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities. It is possible that we will witness a significant enhancement of Siri that utilizes AI to make it more conversational and useful.

Additionally, Apple has the potential to incorporate AI technology into their current applications such as Music, Notes, and Photos. There is also a possibility that Apple may collaborate with OpenAI to make their popular ChatGPT tool available on iPhones.
