On June 28th, Lisa made a highly anticipated solo comeback with the release of her music video “ROCKSTAR”. This marks her first music release since establishing her own label, “LLOUD”, in February of this year. Notably, “ROCKSTAR”showcases Lisa’s personal journey, talent, and achievements.
For her latest comeback, Lisa made the decision to film the entire music video in Bangkok, Thailand as a way to pay homage to the country’s stunning landscapes and rich culture. As viewers watch the MV, they will undoubtedly recognize familiar sights that they may have encountered while visiting Thailand.
Chinatown
To film the MV in the bustling Chinatown (also known as Yaowarat in Thai), which is located in the heart of Bangkok, Lisa paid 20,000 baht (equivalent to 750,000 won) to each merchant on the main street to close their shops early. This allowed for most of the scenes in “ROCKSTAR” to be shot in this vibrant area.
Lisa was aware of the constant flow of visitors in the Yaowarat area, both during the day and at night. In order to ensure that her MV filming would not disrupt the business of nearby merchants, she also compensated them on the smaller streets in the vicinity.
Lisa’s team not only offered to pay 1000 baht (around 38,000 won) to any passerby who happened to film the MV shooting process, but they also made a special effort to keep the content of the video a secret. It can be assumed that Lisa spent a significant amount of money to successfully complete the filming of her music video in Chinatown.
The Opera Theater
The escalator at the abandoned Opera Theater, situated on Phetchaburi Street, also piqued the curiosity of fans and netizens. This theater, which was built in 2976, ceased operations in the early 2000s.
The theater is currently vacant and the space in front of the escalator has been repurposed for massage services, clubs, and adult businesses. According to reliable sources, individuals are required to pay 30,000 baht (equivalent to approximately 1,130,000 won) to use this location for photo shoots.
Casting Trans-Models and Trans-Influencers for “Rockstar” Music Video
In addition to recruiting a group of 100 Thai dancers, Lisa extended invitations to three distinguished guests for her music video. Among them is Bruze Kachi-Sarah, a renowned Thai beauty and a contestant for Miss Tiffany’s Universe 2024. The victor of this pageant will serve as the country’s representative in the upcoming Miss Trans Global 2024, which will be held in Pattaya, Thailand.
The remaining two beauties featured in this MV in June, also known as Pride Month, are Aëffy and Chinnawat Promsri. This further emphasizes Lisa’s admiration for the LGBT community.
Thai Traditional Transportation – Tuktuk
Finally, Lisa also featured the iconic mode of transportation in Thailand, the Tuktuk, in her MV. Despite its brief appearance, the Tuktuks with large speakers in the background immediately caught the viewers’ attention. The scene with the motorbike was equally impressive, even though it only lasted a few seconds.
Lisa has consistently incorporated Thai culture into all of her music releases, and fans are once again filled with pride for the female idol’s love for her home country. It is clear that Lisa, who was born in Thailand, truly embodies the title of “rockstar.”
